Highway Contract Let to Dean Word
The contract for building the new section of Highway 67 between Clifton and Meridian was awarded Tuesday to Dean Word of San Antonio. Construction will begin early in 1940 and the project aims to create a scenic, traffic-friendly route enhancing through traffic from north and west Texas to South Texas and the coast. Traffic will be maintained on the old highway during construction, with the new highway opened when ready, about two years hence.
