Chicago December 13. An elderly man repaid a $100 poker debt to Major John A. Bering of the Forty-Eighth Optio Volunteers, after fifty six years. Private John W. Arnold had won the money in a Confederate prison camp at Camp Ford Texas and lent it to Bering, who later paid back in full amid tears and laughter.
