Mediators Chosen for Bosque County Debt Conciliation

Postponed Trial of Alleged Slayer in Meridian Case

The trial of Clifton of Dr Owen Carpenter for a murder eight years ago in Meridian was postponed due to witness absence and other reasons. It is reset for March 18 1983. Combe linked to the case was arrested in Twin Falls Idaho and brought back to Bosque County. Carpenter was shot in Clifton's home. Smith was convicted, served years, and pardoned by Governor Rose Sterling. Sheriff Benson noted plans to call Grand Jury for Carl Pearson next week. Two liquor cases were resolved. one suspended sentence for John Lats Alling, an operator.

Clifton College To Present a Cantata at Christmas

Turkeys Bring Near 10 Cents to Clifton Market

In Clifton the Waco Packing House handles a large Christmas turkey trade with about 300 pickers processing thousands of birds weekly.
