Kesqoe County Polled Hereford Association met December 5 at 2 00 PM to elect officers and directors for 1947. Jack Martin Morgen was elected president and secretary. Clifton travels to Turnersville Friday then both squads host Turnerville Tuesday Dec 17 at 7.
Ole C Wallum 88 died Wednesday morning December 11 at the home of his sister in Clifton. Funeral services were held Thursday at 1 PM at the home and 2 PM at St Glat Lutheran Church of Grants Gap with interment in Bock Church Cemetery. Rev Maakestad led the services. He farmed for decades in Bogeysomusle area before moving to Clifton about ten years ago. Born February 8, 1860, he is survived by his sister. his wife preceded him in death.
The American Legion and the Auxiliary collect gifts in Clifton for hospitalized veterans still from the war. New or used items or money are welcome to lift spirits, with drop locations in town or via Legion or Auxiliary members.
E R Beck Sr aged 60 years 8 months 38 days died after long illness. He lived in Kaufman County born March 12 1877 and spent time in Fort Hancock and San Pedro California. He is survived by his wife B R Beck son W R Beck Jr and grandson Lawrence Richard Beck. Funeral conducted by Reverend Patton will be in Kaufman Cemetery on Saturday.
Joyce Alasone Hort of Clintton was among 19 nominees at the University of Texas for Queen of the Varsity Carnival. The final voting crowned an Austin winner, while Hoff enjoyed the attention given to nominees before and during the carnival night. Selection as a nominee among thousands was considered a real honor.
Clifton FFA hosts Lions Club with turkey dinner and program. New committee assignments include Pat Pederson on Attendance, J L Standefer on Finance, Dr Hale Hansen on Program, Orlette Watson on Citizenship and Patriotism, Willen Rare to Commerce.
