Highway 67 survey and bids eyed for Meridian area
The Meridian area reports ongoing highway work with a re survey of Mishway Iredell and a plan to let a contract for construction to close a gap on Highway 67. A re survey is ordered under D M Puckett to begin in two weeks with a countywide effort to connect routes through Apedell and Nails Creek to Clifton. Fudge Lovelady advocates for Highway 87 and optimistic prospects for crossing the county in the next two years.

Rev Hayden Edwards pastor of Clifton Methodist Church was accidentally shot by local man Mr Westmoreland while a windstorm caused scattered shots. The minister suffered ear, cheek, scalp wounds but remained conscious and was treated at a Hamilton hospital with a speedy recovery expected.
