Former Clifton Preacher Dies in Fort Worth Texas
James Harris Walker a retired Methodist minister died at his Fort Worth home. Funeral services were at Trinity Methodist Church with Rev. W H Cole officiating and burial in Greenwood Cemetery. He was 37 years a minister and served in many Texas towns. Survived by widow and numerous children and relatives.

Frank Oswald Injured by Young Jersey Bull at Fort Worth Yard
Frank Oswald suffered a broken hip when a Jersey bull struck him while he washed his hands in a watering trough. He and his brother Will Oswald had shipped two calves to the Fort Worth market. He was taken to a Fort Worth hospital and will remain for several weeks as doctors treat the injury before possible return home.

Stamps Issued to Help Waterfowl Conservation Program
Waterfowl stamp sales begin June 16 under federal act. Hunters over ten must carry the stamp with a $1 fee, funds support waterfowl restoration. Stamps available at Meridian Post Office and other offices in towns over 2,000 population. Violators face fines up to 500 dollars or up to six months imprisonment. County producers must submit applications by September 2, listing totals of animals and breeding stock for participation.

Cattlemen Shipping Stock Carloads to Government
Cattlemen and farmers continue selling cattle to the government. Fourteen cars have shipped from local yards with more to come. Valley Mills and Meridian shipments increase as about one thousand cattle and calves leave Valley Mills and around 760 from Clifton. Car capacity runs about 42 cows and 60 calves. Some cattle were killed in early shipments but efforts to move stock continue amid crowded yards and ongoing government purchases. Droughts push totals to over 3.6 million cattle purchases with $32 million in disbursements across twenty Western states.
