The college announces a new athletic leadership team to coordinate the intercollegiate program. Faculty experts will consolidate arrangements for the season and bolster multiple sports under Coach Martin Shehr Cart Coote and staff, including Lala iF, Mes. Me Guilt Atwood, and Mr. Totgherty.
D W Powston pioneer farmer of Mosheim died Friday night at age four. Funeral services led by Rev J M Max and Rev G W Murlin were held Sunday at Mosheim Methodist Church with pallbearers listed. Survived by widow Tennin Graves Poston four children and numerous siblings and grandchildren.
Knight, a 28 year old man, died at a New Jersey camp hospital. He was brought back and laid to rest by his mother. The burial occurred Saturday afternoon in the Bee cemetery. He was a cousin of Mrs. Mary of Cruntill Gat.
The executive license purge affects all license types across the sea and fish trades. It warns fishermen and related individuals that permits must be renewed by month end under new regulations.

Bosque County reports its first bale of cotton for 1941 grown by J W McMillon near Clifton in Cayote township and ginned at Cayote Millard under gin. It was purchased by Mr Badlard for 127.14 dollars including premium. Local residents extend congratulations across the county.
Clifton Cabs plan an early football training start Monday with about eight boys present eight include five starters from last year. Returnees include Mart Int year and Teaderman Arthur Nalbons while Gokka Denia and Aden Huloe lead the backfield. The squad features several lettermen and weighs around 160 plus pounds with key linemen and backfield reserves noted. The opening game is at Lorena on September 19 with a slate of district fixtures through November 21 including Clifton at McGrepur and La Vega at Clifton.

Washington Aug 26 Home members predicted today that 10 attempts would be made to override President Roosevelts veto of legislation to frame government loan stocks of wheat and cotton and to relax rules for producing above quota wheat. Representative Cochran Democrat Missouri said the bill is dead and not worth a vote. Representative Achtenhiner Republican Michigan questioned authority lenders.
About 60 000 teachers are eligible for retirement pension checks this fall. To qualify, teachers must reach 60, have 25 years service and be contributing to the retirement system begun in 1987. Teachers have contributed five percent of salary, matched by the state, with total contributions this year nearing 11 million dollars. Civic Society notes a separate fund push and public notices follow on distribution.

Meyer Sr. 68 of River Yanks Garden died at 2 30 a m Wednesday in a local hospital He had lived in Houston 26 years and was formerly with Burroughs Adding Machine and later in the investment business He retired 11 years ago due to ill health He belonged to St John the Divine Episcopal Church and several Masonic and fraternal bodies He survived by his wife Mrs Glann Bakke Meyer three sons two brothers and multiple relatives Funeral services were held in the George H Lewin Co drawing room with burial in Glenwood Cemetery Active pallbearers and honorary pallbearers were named from Clifton Houston and surrounding areas.
Senate Finance Committee members propose simplifying income tax returns for individuals earning 2000 or less per year. Plan would standardize deductions for singles, eliminate child deductions, and set 50 per child. Taxes on incomes up to 3000 would be carried forward on the return, reducing administrative costs for individuals and government.
Reverend A M Moore and family left Wednesday for Alvin to establish a home and serve the Presbyterian Church there as pastor. Moore previously led the Clinton church for several years and made many friends in this community. Best wishes go with them to the new posting.
County residents continue to support national defense by purchasing Defense Bonds and OFEN MOUNT stamps. Since the drive began in May, Clifton Post Office organized ceremonies as officers and citizens contributed. The bank notes a substantial sale with many gifts and daily continues.
The Clifton School will open Monday September 8 with class starting that day. High school students register Friday September 5 starting at 9:00 a.m. Juniors and seniors register in the forenoon, sophomores and freshmen in the afternoon. Bus runs will operate Friday to pick up registering students.
Pilot Officer William Robert Dann of Houston Texas shot down six and then seven enemy planes, returning to base with a bullet in one foot. He landed safely with Eagle squadrons that swept over France as German fighters were destroyed in the day’s air action.
The Record, authorized by the Ei Superintendent, states Cranfills Gap Public School term begins September 1. Officials expect full enrollment and readiness of teachers and students for the first day.
