Americans Living Longer Across Centuries
A roughly phrased summary notes that in 1900 about 0.6 percent of Americans lived to 100, with a slight rise by 1916 to 1920 reaching about 0.8 percent. The decade 1880 to 1920 saw the population doubling, while those aged over 65 more than tripled. The aging trend continued, though gains slowed as centenarians remained rare. A separate brief mentions a burglary at a La Vernia warehouse in Wilson County, with thieves stealing unspecified goods.
