Cranfills Gap history and the Cumberland Gap tale
The piece traces Cranfills Gap’s origins with the Cranfill brothers and early settlers like Erasmus and George Eaton Cranfill. It notes town moves, a 1859 county boundary change affecting Bosque and Hamilton counties, and the cemetery’s current county placement. It references the Cumberland Gap as a geographic lesson and recalls local post office and road developments.
