Clifton High sets first Cub practice for 1965 season
About 50 boys expected at Clifton High School football practice, led by Head Coach Aubrey T. Roberts. The 1965 squad will start practice August 16 at 8:30 AM, with first game set for September 3 against Pillsboro. Nine lettermen return including Jamet Harwin and Jim Conner, with workouts planned through August 27 and regular sessions 2 PM to 6 PM.

Death of Bosque County official John Cowen at 83
John Cowen 83 of this city died at 9 50 p m Thursday night at Memorial Hall Clifton Sunset Home after Ill health. He served as Bosque County Clerk for 12 years and moved to Memorial Hall on February 24 1964 following his wife’s death. He was born May 27 in Norse and married Placence June McPadden February 24 1908. Survived by six children Wilson Joe Hardy Lownie Mabel Corinne and Jett Richards Lownie. Funeral arrangements pending.

Morgen Man Killed and Four Hurt in Monday Wreck
A car carrying four Meridian youths collided on State Highway 1% while returning home from work. Jerry Malet and three others were treated at Meridian hospital. one killed, others reported in fair to fer condition. The wounded were taken to Hillcrest Hospital in Weee for further care. The Iredell youth was sent to the Cleburne Hospital with a broken arm and other injuries.

Ellis Transferred to Texas City by Community Public
W J Ellis, a division engineer with the Central Division in Clifton since 1983, will be moved to the Southeast Division in Texas City. He and his wife plan to relocate with their three children Stephen Stanley and Janet before school opens. The Ellises came to Clifton from Alamogordo New Mexico, and James Turpley of Pecos is expected to replace him in Clifton.

R O Rachuig 63 died at 445 o clock Sunday morning August 8 at Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home where he had lived since March 13 1963. Born November 10 1881 in Washington County he moved to Bosque County as a child and lived near Clifton until his death. He married Haldina Ickerta on June 13 1907.

Clifton Public Schools Set 1965-66 Start Date and Renovations
Opening date for Clifton Public Schools is September 1 1965 with classes starting that morning. Registration for seniors through first grade runs Aug 30–31 with times listed. faculty meeting Aug 30. Summer renovations include paving the quadrangle and two tennis courts by Aug 27 new furniture for two primary rooms and extensive painting and cleanup. A new 60 passenger bus will serve Laguna Park and Clifton High School bleachers have been expanded. Football tickets go on sale around Aug 23 with prices for reserve general and student seating.
