Dene Albrecht, a Colvert’s Prescription Pharmacy pharmacist for five years, has bought a half interest from Mrs. George Colvert. Colvert remains active in the firm. Albrecht plans no changes to staff, policies, or hours, pursuing a long-held goal of drug store ownership in his hometown.
Clifton celebrates the dedication of a historical marker for Clifton Lutheran College at Avenue Q and 7th Street with a program led by Dorothy Ann Brown and Joel E. Nelson. The piece also covers city hall construction bids and cost-cutting decisions, including bidders National Building Centers, Waco Construction, and K A Sparks Contractors.
Clifton High School football begins practice Monday August 13 at 8 a.m. with two daily sessions and equipment handout August 8. The Cubs schedule includes home and away games against Mart Joshua Hamilton Comanche Robinson West McGregor Midway Hillsboro Connally, with a scrimmage before the September 7 opener.
A two vehicle collision occurred in front of the U S Post Office on West 5th Street Clifton Tuesday afternoon. Alan L Conrad of Clifton drove a four door sedan to Goodall Witcher Foundation Hospital for examination. Shelton Payne of Clifton drove a pickup and was not injured. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage.
A 1968 station wagon and a 1971 sedan collided on State Highway 6 about seven tenths of a mile northwest of Meridian Friday morning. No injuries were reported. light damage to both vehicles. Drivers named were Joseph Courtney of Fort Worth and Guy Ditto of Big Spring.
Joe M. Lofton was named chairman of the executive committees of the First Security State Bank Crawfills Gap and the Farmers State Bank Meridian. Other members include Hermen A. Kennett J Edward Johnson Jack Philon and J P Ward. A four percent semiannual cash dividend was declared for stockholders of record August 1 1973. Lofton is president and chief executive officer of the First Security State Bank.
Cranfills Gap School will hold registration Friday August 10 for all classes. Classes begin Monday August 15, announced by Supt. C. L. Mitchell. Enrollment is expected to rise slightly as kindergarten opens and public schools start operations.
Bobby H Viertel, third generation with First Security Bank of Crawfills Gap, joined staff August 1 as son of Hulbert B Viertel director and former chairman. He holds degrees from Tarleton State College and Colorado State University, lives in Cranfills Gap, and is active in civic affairs. Also notes on new high school principal Paul Boswell, Kwajalein teaching, and local school staff plans. Firefighters from Clifton Volunteer Fire Department extinguished a wiring fire in a car on Ave. E Clifton.
