The Clifton Record laments the fading of old time picnics and long journeys to community gatherings. It recalls August park celebrations, warns about careless driving, and urges prudent travel as autos replace wagon trips and communal feasts.
Special correspondent reports extended hot weather may have spared cotton, with plants flowering well. Notes visits of Gerald Mallory to Mrs. Herman Hulme, and multiple local families from the Home Demonstration Club attending county events. Threshing ends, pastors Jordan and Berg praised, and Clifton’s Farmers State Bank celebrates twenty years, highlighting growth, safety, and local impact.
Sunday in Tickville brings a pleasant, gossip filled slice of life with notes on Miss Peschie Simms and town characters. A postmaster bands rat holes, Jefferson Puilocks’ wagon breaks, and local mischief and quirks color a day in Bound at Wild Ynsom.
