Ranchers Restore Range with Grass Over Brush and Cedar
E K Bowman’s ranch is being cleared of brush using bulldozing, goating, seedings, and rest from grazing from May 4 until frost to promote grass growth. Dr Paul Murphey reports a successful replacement program begun in 1948, with rest and grazing cycles improving pastures. Fellow ranchers including P E Dansby and Albert Wirz adopt timed rest, seeding, and terrace work with county equipment to advance soil and forage improvements across the district.
