The Commissioners Court of Bosque County asks for state right of way on market roads and sets plans for surveys and snow road planting. Gas Tax Fund news notes Dongan County’s year end refund of about 1.1 million and bond retirement funds, with $14,400.61 to maintain lateral roads. A decline in gasoline sales is reported.
A Jackson family reunion was held Sunday July 29 at Walnut Park, with basket suppers and photos. Attendees included Irene Atroner of San Antonio, J M Peterson of Hele Center, J E Jackson of Fort Worth, and numerous relatives from Fort Worth, Clifton, and nearby areas. Several members unable to attend sent regrets or planned future gatherings.
An OCR fragment reports a birth notice dated July 26 1991 from Clifton naming Basra or Birthe as the newborn. It lists grandparents My and Me Rossing and Mie Beary Wiede of Clifton and references former names and hospital dates with garbled details.
Eight year old Jionany Grimm Hart and Mrs W A Grimm suffered severe facial and body cuts after a bottle exploded while he played Sunday. A bottle was reportedly forced open by water pressure and exploded, sending glass shards. The boy was hospitalized and received sixteen stitches. doctors hope for a full recovery.
A Basque citizen group from Hamilton Coryell Basue Somervel Arath and Palo Pinto counties toured north central Texas and southern Oklahoma by chartered box. They visited Lawton Wildlife Reservation Guthrie Experiment Station and Oklahoma City seeing crops rotations alfalfa cotton and bluestem varieties. The visit included observations on native grass, post oak growth control and alfalfa and cotton production near Guthrie Valley and Paul Valley with stops in Oklahoma City for a baseball game.
The park offers four ice wading pools for small children and swings, seesaws for older kids. A committee will oversee all day recreation with various activities and staff on site by 9:00 AM.
Eckert relatives gathered at the American Legion Clubhouse in Oakton City Park for a July 29 reunion. Visitors arrived early, baskets were shared at noon, and attendees extended hopeful plans to meet again next year amid a long afternoon of fellowship.
In a candlelit First Baptist Church wedding at 6:00 p m on Thursday July 36 Miss Charlotte Ang Unrrik became the bride of Mr Dilly Law Harvey. The ceremony featured double ring vows with Rev Jerrod Gene Turner officiating. The bride wore a white floorlength wedding gown with eyelet lace and a fingertip veil, carrying red carnations. Attendants included Mix Melonath Morris as maid of honor and Patsy Morris and Kay Weebunt as bridesmaids. Groomsmen and ushers included Mr Irving Amundson and cousins from Morgan. A reception followed at the couple’s home. Shahan has been appointed Bosque County County Agent and will report August 15.
Yoel citizens Kohl El Blewett Joe Knochs and Holgar Keeling helped organize a fogging device to spray Clifton’s business district. Built with local firms at a cost around $1500, the truck mounted fogger has operated in trials to curb mosquitoes and polio risk.
Local tennis club advances Knudson and McCarty to finals in a double elimination event. Matches scheduled for Thursday and Friday nights between Horton and Cirr, with Harper and Coston leading the team to Saturday’s concluding round.
