Norse Community History and Its Clifton Ties
The Norse community near Clifton operated a post office in a store near Our Savior's Lutheran Church, with the last postmaster Amos Eggen. It had a three room school with ten grades, later sending graduates to Clifton, and hosted a local telephone exchange and blacksmith shop. The Norse Church gathered from the old school location, and the Norse Community Fair evolved into the Clifton Bosque County Fair, paused for WWII, then moved between Meridian and Clifton as roads and travel improved.
