Artist Boren injures finger in lawnmower accident
Clifton artist James Boren injured his right index finger in a home lawnmower accident and received treatment at Clifton Medical and Surgical Clinic. He says recovery will take weeks and has affected his work as his family attended a one person show by Nancy Boren at Abilene Christian University Student Union Center where she prepares for a bachelor of fine arts degree next month. The exhibition included sculpture oil paintings and other works and drew a sizable crowd. Nancy is a Clifton High School graduate.

Two fined for stealing tomato and pepper plants downtown
Two adults, a man and a woman, were fined and placed on probation after being charged with theft over $20 and under $200 for stealing 314 tomato and pepper plants in front of Winn's Stores at 142 North Ave. D. Arrested by Officers Murry and Austin, they appeared before County Judge Ward Jr. The plants were recovered and returned. A citizen band radio was also reported stolen from a locked vehicle on North Ave. I. No other crashes noted.

Water main bursts flood street. crews shut off supply
A burst water pipe on West 5th Street at North Avenue Friday night sent gallons of water and miniature geysers through street holes. City Secretary M. R. White and police and water department crews responded. no damage reported after the flow was stopped and crews searched for the source.
