Sheriff to receive donated armored car for Bosque County
During the Commissioners Court meeting on Monday April 25 the court approved accepting an armored car from Frisco Police Department. Sheriff Anthony Malott noted Frisco’s grant funded the vehicle after Bosque County aided in a Hamilton County shooting rescue. The court also approved donating used radios to volunteer fire departments and funded DFPS interlocal and tobacco enforcement grant applications. Monthly payments of 54,933.91 and precinct funds were approved.

Fiesta planned May 7 in Clifton downtown
The first Cinco de Mayo celebration in Clifton is set for Saturday May 7 from noon to 6 pm in downtown. The event features Mexican culture foods and beverages arts and crafts booths live bands folkloric dance salsa contest and judging plus family entertainment activities.

Local graduate joins Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps this summer
Cody Sergeant, a 2010 Clifton High School graduate and Tarleton State University music education major, will tour 21 states with the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps. A former Vigilantes of Denton member, he performs with Tarleton ensembles and Pollard trumpet choir which will play at the International Trumpet Guild on May 28. Sergeant previously watched DCI acts during a Dallas visit.

Eighth annual High School Art Show awards announced
The Bosque Arts Center hosts the eighth annual High School Art Show for Bosque and Hamilton counties from April 17 to 30. Ninety four entries by 44 students from six schools were received across watercolor, oil, pastel, pencil, and mixed media. Bruce Greene judged the show. Best in Show went to Lynn Beck for a mixed media piece from Clifton High. First place winners were Lynn Beck in mixed media, Lanie Davis in watercolor and pencil, and Sara Mize in Oil/Acrylic.
