License Plate Sales Rise in Bosque County in 1971

Bosque County reports 7 860 sets of license plates sold by March 31 1971 extending to about 193 000 dollars in plate sales nearly 22 dollars higher than 1970 totals. About 290 more plates were sold in 1971 than in 1970.

Bosque Memorial Museum hosts open house on Texas heritage

The Bosque Memorial Museum invites the public to an open house and social hour Sunday April 25 from 2 to 5 PM. Officers will showcase Texas cultural heritage with exhibits and offer pamphlets from the University of Texas Institute of Texan Cultures. Copies of The Twenty Americans and The Norwegian Americans are available for $1.25 each.

Open House Draws 600 Plus At Clifton Turkey Hatchery

More than 600 visitors toured the Clifton Turkey Hatchery during a special Open House last Sunday. Dick Taylor, president, and Jack Henry, plant manager, expressed thanks to all attendees for their warm welcome as the hatchery, operating since March 18, produced its first egg batch on April 15.

Daylight Saving Time Begins in Texans This Spring

DST goes into effect at 2 A.M. Sunday April 25 1971. Texans must set clocks forward one hour to 3 A.M. The period lasts until October 25 1971 when clocks return to Central Standard Time.

The Coon Creek Homecoming is scheduled Sunday April 25 at the Coon Creek Church and grounds. Exes former residents and neighbors are invited to join friends and relatives for a day of visiting and reminiscing with all day gospel singing and dinner on the grounds. Baptist Youth Rally Set Here Sunday p.m.

A county wide youth rally is planned at First Baptist Church in Clifton this Sunday evening April 26. Rev Bryan Thornburg leads as host pastor with Dr Jimmy Allen of San Antonio as speaker and Rev Ray Parmer moderating. Choirs, music, testimonies and a mass gathering are planned to engage youth and adults from across the Meridius Baptist Association.

Track Meet at Midway Marred By Wind Rain

The Midway district track meet faced wind and rain cancellations and delays. Clifton dominated events with top pawns and several records, as Robinson edged Midway by a slim margin to claim the crown.

Clifton Reports 2 10 Rain Totals This Week

Official rainfall for Clifton during the past week amounted to 210 inches as of noon Tuesday. Last Thursday and night added .60 inches, Saturday and night .85, and Monday and night .40, bringing the total to 21 inches. Some places reported as much as 485 inches.
