Norse Telephone Service Ends After 50 Years in Norse
The Norse Telephone Company in Clifton area ceased operation on April 14 after being purchased by Clifton Telephone Company in February 1960. The new dial system connects Norse residents to Clifton, Lake area, and Turnersville, replacing the old shared switchboard and low-cost line setup.

Mr Boelter Dies In Waco While Visiting Family
Will F Boelter 72 5 18 died about 10 AM Wednesday April 19 at Hillcrest Hospital Waco after a stroke. He lived at 314 North Avenue F Clifton and was moved to be near his children. Funeral held April 20 at Trinity Lutheran Clifton with burial in Clifton Cemetery. An obituary will run next week.

Mrs. Rowland W. Slate aged 78 years 3 months 17 days died about 7 PM Saturday April 15 at Memor ial Hall Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home after years of confinement. Born December 28 1882 in Harmony she lived in Clifton Norse Crawfills Gap Chicago and Dallas before moving to Sunset Home in 1958. Survived by a brother Oswald M Olson of Clifton and a sister Maude McCormick Cranfills Gap. preceded by two siblings. Funeral held April 17 at Clifton Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Reverend James H. Elder Jr. Zeda Anne continued on last page.

Six Clifton High School majorettes participated in a twirling contest at McGregor High School last Saturday and earned twelve medals two each. Claudale Kelly Bonnie Orbeck Brenda Eggen Nellie Carr Charlene Meyer and Helen Wiederaenders placed first division in both single and double routines marking Clifton majorettes first time achieving that classification. Two Clifton Junior High girls also competed Randy Outlaw Kay Kincheloe and Peggy Aars earned second and third division placements respectively.
