A Monday post office robbery attempt ends with a sheriff firing on three suspects. One man is seriously wounded, others flee. authorities say the gang planned the crime and seek the capture of the robbers with a standing reward.
Prank Scofield, Collector of Internal Revenue for the First District, urged farmers meat market operators and slaughtering plants to file monthly hog processing tax returns. He noted many rely on hearsay and misinterpret the tax rules under the Agricultural Adjustment Act. Operators owning slaughtering facilities must file and pay tax on live weight of hogs slaughtered for market.
In Valley Main on Tuesday night young Locklear was slashed in the stomach with a knife by Robert Wharton. Locklear was rushed to a hospital and reported recovering Wednesday morning. Wharton was killed on the charge by a grand jury after the fight between Wharton and Locklear’s father over a rope issue led to the deadly confrontation.

Berry Cary, treasurer of the Meridian Farm Loan Association, reports Governor Myers says farmers and creditors welcome the bonds of the Federal Farm Mortgage Corporation.
