Bremond Whitney Youths Win Miss Lake Whitney 1964

Miss eri Griswold of Bremond won Miss Lake Whitney 1964 and will compete in Houston. Glenda Waller of Hubbard was runner up. Connie Brunett won Junior Miss Lake Whitney. Clifton participants and other finalists from Clifton and surrounding towns were noted. judges and officials were hosted after the Saturday event at Dr. and Mrs. W. F. Key Jr. residence.

Local Men Injured In West Texas Crash

F Remington Sr and Ches ter Hulme of Clifton were injured when their pickup collided with a car driven by Jack Alan Hunter of Houston near Buffalo Wednesday morning. They were taken to Teague hospital and then to a local hospital for X rays. Hulme is listed in serious condition with a punctured lung and broken ribs.

Clifton Girls Sweep Top Honors At Twirling Contest

Eight Clifton girls competed in the Regional University Interscholastic League Twirling Contest in Mc Gregor on April 4. Janet Schrantz earned a first division solo rating, while she joined Helen Wiederaenders and Lavonne Eggen in earning a first division trio score. Lavonne Kincheloe Peggy Aars and Randy Outlaw won second division solos. Junior high solo winners were Kathy Collins and Vicki Outlaw. Clifton band director Glen Judah announced tryouts for a drum major and five twirlers for next year.

Former Clifton Resident Mrs Tennison Dies at 73

Clifton mourns Rita Lillian Davis Tennison 73 of Mineral Wells after an April 6 death at Nazareth Hospital. Born March 18 1881 in Eldorado Illinois she moved to Texas with family in childhood, later residing in Clifton and Mineral Wells. Survived by husband Roy L Tennison five sons and five daughters, plus eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services were held April 8 in Mineral Wells and Clifton with interment at Clifton Cemetery.

Mrs. K. Mackey of Morgan entered Clifton hospital for medical treatment on April 2. C. A. Smith of Route 2 Clifton is currently a medical patient in the local hospital, admitted April 6. Mrs. Otto Walsleben of Valley Mills has been receiving medical treatment in Clifton hospital since April 4.

Clifton Garden Club Plans 10th Annual Flower Show

The Clifton Garden Club will present its tenth annual flower show at the National Guard Armory in the city from 3:00 to 7:00 P M on Thursday April 16. Theme is Texas Our Texas. Refreshments will be served. Clifton High Wins District One Act Play Contest

Clifton High School captured first place in the District Interscholastic League One Act Play Contest held at Glen Rose. Alvarado High and Glen Rose High finished second and third. The CHS entry The Purple Door Knob featured Susan Witcher Nancy Swenson and Kaye Conrad and earned Susan Witcher best actress. Clifton will advance to the Regional Contest in Denton on April 25.

Mr. Stanford Honored On His 90th Birthday

W C Bill Stanford was honored with a dinner at the Stanford apartment in Clifton to mark his 90th birthday. Born in 1874 in Collin County, he moved with family to Hamilton County as a child and lived there until a 1963 hip injury led to extended care before returning to Clifton. Friends and relatives attended, and a granddaughter in law, Mrs Darwin Stanford, baked a 90 candle cake.

Elmar A. Dahl Dies After Stroke at 62 in Clifton

Elmar A. Dahl aged 62 years 1 month and 21 days of 204 North Avenue R Clifton died in the local hospital after a paralytic stroke. He was hospitalized April 6 and passed away April 8. Funeral services were held April 9 at Trinity Lutheran Church Clifton with interment in Clifton Cemetery. A full obituary will appear next week.

Clifton cattle and grain prices from Wednesday auction

Prices quoted Thursday morning show eggs at 25 cents a dozen for large A, 23 cents for medium and B large, 15 cents for pullets, 12 to 12 1/2 cents for cracks. Grain lists oats 80 cents per bushel, milling wheat 1.80, spring wheat 1.60, barley 9.00 per hundredweight, mule 2.00, yellow corn 1.25. Roughly 400 cattle offered with steadiness except stockers and feeders down 50 cents. top steers and yearlings 19.50 to 22, butcher calves 20 to 22.50, cows 14 to 16.50, hogs to 14.39.
