Tom C. Parks Elected Clifton's New Mayor
The city election last Tuesday drew interest but no major conflict. Voters approved a chicken ordinance by 112 to 49. Henry Gray led the marshal race with 119 to 43 for P M Sormrude. Tom C. Parks became mayor without opposition along with H P Jones and S J Cormany as aldermen, succeeding Aars and Rachuig.

Clifton Public School News Items Highlights Local Board Return and Gas Heating Plan
In Clifton the entire former school board was re elected in a low turnout election of thirty four votes. New board members are A G Gilliam president C H Reese secretary R L Baldridge vice president J G Lane J G Jorgenson and O Lee Stuart. The board approved a local gas company plan to install gas heating for next season with automatic heat controls for uniform temperatures. Clifton Cubs beat Iredell High 14 to 5 at the city park as Gordon Johnson and J M Wallace pitched well. Clifton leads in county baseball with two wins from three, after a 10 to 5 win over Morgan and a 16 to 5 loss to Iredell. The May Fete, sponsored by the P T A, is set for Friday May 1 at 5 PM in the city park with drills and dances planned.
