He used slides to compare Bell’s original 1876 phone with modern systems and noted Bell Telephone handles 27,000,000 calls every 24 hours. The audience stayed attentive throughout the talk and a third lecture is planned.

State Censor Sets Standards for Pictures Display

The state board of censors, created in 1911, issued rules for approving films shown in theatres and public views. Effective June 1, a $2,604 fee will be charged for each film or reel of 2,200 feet for examination at Harrisburg. The board will judge what may be shown and seek to ban sensational or misleading posters and advertising.

Rosser Stanmert wedding linked to Altoona furniture firm

Jesse Rosser and Grace Stanners wed at the bride's Altoona home on Tuesday. They depart for St Louis, plan to reside in Clearfield where Rosser will join his father in the furniture business. Interstate Commerce Commission Endorses NY Central Lake Shore Merger Bonds

The Interstate Commerce Commission yesterday endorsed the plan by the New York Central and Hudson River Rail road to issue 167,202,400 dollars in 4 percent mortgage bonds to take over 3 1/2 percent bonds. The consolidated capital stock totals 338,777,100 dollars with bonded debt 484,711,400 dollars, including 67,102,400 dollars of refunding bonds. The NY Central estimates 855,900,000 dollars will be needed in 10 years for improvements. Savings from consolidation could reach 325,000 dollars annually from simplified records and 200,000 dollars from tax law, exceeding the additional interest costs.
