Evangelical Church Founded Here in 1905 Elkader
The Friedens Evangelical church of Elkader traces its origins to 1905 when a permanent pastor was assigned by the Central Synod after years without an organized congregation. The era saw building projects, new heating, windows, and a bell. A move to a larger Tudor Gothic church began in 1923 with cornerstone laid July 1 and dedication December 16, 1923, under Pastor Karl Kitler.
