Disappearance of two Clarinda boys ends in Amity Township
Gene Holder and Ricky Pfander, both 11 and 12, ran away Saturday night to Tennessee to fish. They carried a pistol and a rifle but were found Sunday morning on a farm half a mile north of the Oliver farm in Amity Township after a tri state search involving police, sheriffs, and pilots. They slept in a roadside ditch before being returned to their parents.

Mrs Lindquist, 92, Dies Here After Fall
Mrs Andrew Lindquist aged 92 died Sunday at 9 45 am after a fall twelve weeks earlier that broke her hip. Born in Sweden she and Andrew Lindquist married there in 1886 and moved to Shenandoah in 1888. Survived by son Eldon in Albany Georgia sister Ida Hawkinson Omaha brother Alfred Holmberg Minneapolis and Emil Lindquist Turlock. Funeral at Covenant Church Shenandoah Tuesday at 2 pm.

Afton Youth Joins Taylor Extension Staff as Trainee
Evan Rayle of Afton joined the Taylor County Extension staff on June 11 as extension summer trainee. He will work with the 4-H club programs, farm and home development, and the agricultural program run by the Cooperative Extension Service. Rayle is a ISU farm operation junior and former 4-H member who competed in National 4-H Congress, Camp Minwanca, and served as a state 4-H officer candidate in 1954. He plans to train the 4-H judging team and assist with the County 4-H Achievement Show and Girls county camp while organizing new clubs.

Red Cross swimming and life saving courses open June 25 at 8 45 am at the American Legion Swimming Pool. Enrollment for all levels is set for Friday and Saturday 9 to 11 am. Children must have one year of school. Instructors are provided by the Red Cross free of charge. A pool usage fee of one dollar per student will be paid to the Legion post at enrollment to cover morning open hours.
