Paving work in Clarinda is delayed for a third day as heavy rains saturate streets. Contractors Jensen and Krage of Sioux City were ready to pour cement Friday, but inspections found gutters flooded and ground too wet. Once started, work will begin at the railroad crossing on S 16th St and proceed to N 16th and State St, with detours for Highway 71 and a five-block routing along Highway 2 from Washington St to State St.

Clarinda Coal and Concrete Co was the successful bidder on June 3 for a 175 by 20-foot continuous I-beam bridge at Diagonal. The firm bid 42,074.81 dollars.
