Federal Inspection for Clarinda's Heavy Mortar Company

Rural Home Near Shambaugh Entire Loss From Fire
The Wilber Johnson family of five were away when a fire destroyed their six room one story home near Mt Joy school known as the J C Davis place. The blaze discovered about 8 45 pm burned completely by 12 30 am, leaving only clothing on the family and plans to rebuild. They stayed with Clyde Cooper’s sister that night and will seek housing while the rebuild is planned.

At 7 30 am Thursday two cars collided at the intersection of 14th and Main in Clarinda on slick snow. Bette Jornson 24 drove north on 14th and Donald Herzberg 23 failed to stop on Main. Jornson's 1952 Oldsmobile suffered rear wheel and fender damage. Herzberg's 1949 Ford was undamaged. Sheriff Stanley Edgar had no other accident reports in Page County by noon. Last year there were no mishaps on S D Day in Clarinda.
