Clare Mill Pond project begins with groundbreaking ceremony
About 100 witnesses watched Clare Mill Pond Development Association start Shamrock Lake work at Clare. Ken Barnes and Mayor Gerald Nivison turned the first shovels as bulldozers cleared the old pond basin and a demolition charge began removing the 1944 dam. Fisheries supervisor Jack Hammond said trout and other game fish will be planted once the lake fills, with 17 lots sold and proceeds from land right of way totaling about 9 000 dollars. If weather cooperates, water could be in by November ahead of the original spring timetable.
