Saginaw Fair Opens Monday For Six Day Run
The sixteenth annual Saginaw Fair opens Monday September 9 for a six day program on the Dixie highway grounds. More than 25 000 in purses premiums and awards will be distributed across farm home and industry exhibits. An estimated 200 000 visitors are expected with 1 200 head of livestock entered including top beef dairy cattle swine and sheep from Michigan and other states. The United States Department of Agriculture will co operate with state officials on a major exhibit alongside state and other educational displays. Spectacle features include harness races a free circus pageants livestock parades and fireworks throughout the week.

Forest Fire In County Reaches 600 Acres In Two Days
A brush fire southwest of Harrison raged for two days before being stopped near U S 27 at Cunningham hill. It blackened about 600 acres of second growth timber and was contained by a large mobilized crew including conservation officers from nearby counties and local volunteers. Director George Hogarth urged continued fire prevention as the season remains hazardous.

Car Rolls Into Budd Lake at Harrison Park
An unoccupied car owned by J A Simpson rolled down an eighty foot incline into Budd Lake at Wilson State Park. The vehicle struck a tree and surfaced after a long rope pull by about a hundred onlookers. No injuries were reported though the car was badly damaged.
