Island of Reunion and Its Repeated Name Swaps

The Island of Reunion changed its name four times in about 60 years. In 1793 it was Bourbon, then Reunion, then Ile Bonaparte under the empire, back to Bourbon at the restoration, and finally Reunion again in 1848. The islanders recall an unprecedented sequence of compulsory changes. The second empire later avoided another Bonaparte naming.
