Michigan opens final I-75 link completing 395 mile freeway
The final 28 miles between West Branch and Roscommon on I-75 open November 1 with a ceremony at M-55. Gov. M. C. Nixon and transportation officials participate as the freeway becomes Michigan's longest and pushes interstate mileage past 1,000. The route now links to Tampa and Miami, with remaining gaps in Tennessee and Georgia planned for completion by 1977.

Clare County emergency and rescue agencies received praise for an unannounced mock disaster drill. Director Al Slaggert called the interagency response excellent as MMCC students acted as injured victims and agencies reached the scene within minutes.

Christmas Club Checks to be Mailed Nov 9
Christmas Club checks totaling over 115000 will be mailed to Citizens Bank and Trust Company in Clare for distribution on Friday November 9. The total payment will top 14000 from 1972 figures as members use funds for Christmas purchases and year end taxes. If 49 payments are made by November 6 and accounts are current, the 50th payment will be issued. The bank will open the 1974 Christmas Club on Monday November 12, 1973.

Polls open 6 30 A M to 8 P M Tuesday November 6 in Clare. City Clerk reports three candidates filed for the three commission seats all incumbents O D Bayes Chris Smith and Robert Walters. Top two finishers win two year terms the third a one year term. No local ballot proposals. Voters in both Clare precincts vote at city hall.
