RAM-SALE AND EXCHANGE AT FAIR GROUND TOMORROW

Sheep owners gather at Harrison fair ground tomorrow for a purebred ram sale and trade. The Michigan purebred sheep breeders association ram truck will bring quality rams at reasonable prices, selected by D H LaVoi. Hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a 11 a.m. talk on grading lambs selecting sites and culling ewes.

Clara Chamber to Hold First Meeting Next Monday

The Clara Chamber of Commerce will hold its first winter meeting next Monday night October 9 at 6 30 at the Hotel Doherty. James Mogan, managing director of the State Board of Tax Administration, will speak on sales tax and address attendees. All interested are invited.

Mrs. Arnold Stutting Dies at Home Near Mt. Pleasant

Mrs. Arnold Stutting died Monday morning at her farm home seven miles west of Mt. Pleasant after three months of illness. She was 72, spent most of her life near Mt. Pleasant, and was aunt to Henry and Mrs. Stutting of Clare. Funeral was at Deerfield Center at 1 p.m. Wednesday, with interment in Riverside Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant.

Miss Grace Lister Becomes Bride of Paul S Bigby

Miss Grace M Lister daughter of Mrs Frederick Lister of 1101 Olivia Ave becomes the bride of Paul S Bigby son of Mrs Albert Bigby of Denver Colorado at the First Congregational Church. The ceremony includes Rev Allison Ray Heaps, a white satin gown, and a reception at the bride’s home.

Infant daughter of Wilson Bader passes away

A baby girl named Jean Marie born to Mr and Mrs Wilson Bader died Tuesday. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Thurston Funeral Home conducted by Rev A D Telder, with interment in Cherry Grove Cemetery.

Fire Prevention Week Proclaimed statewide

Gov. Wm. A. Comstock designates October 8 to 14, 1933 as Fire Prevention Week to raise citizen awareness and duty to prevent fires. Local departments under Chief Haley will visit basements in the business district to ensure corrections and plan entry methods in case of fire, with merchant cooperation urged.

Head tax collection slated for this fall in Michigan

The two dollar head tax will be collected this fall and registration for everyone over 21 is set to begin by November 15. The Old Age Pension Act becomes effective October 17, with filing system setup delaying earlier October 1 deadline. Applications will not be available until November 15 at the County Old Age Pension Board.

Catherine Lansing born October 6 1858 in Hungerford Ontario died September 29 1933 at 74 years. She married Geo Maxwell July 3 1884, widowed 1886, later married Joel DeGeer June 16 1897. Heads Of Closed Bank Officials Acquitted In Clare Case

In Clare Circuit Court Judge James Parker acquitted five former Clare County Savings Bank directors of criminal intent after a lengthy trial. The People presented seventeen witnesses and ninety three exhibits, while defense counsel argued insolvency and lack of fraudulent intent. The case, covering deposits and director actions, concludes with a not guilty verdict.
