Da Vinci Parachute May Enable Long Range Drops
The Army tests a Leonardo da Vinci inspired parachute by Ryan Aeronautical designed for 25 mph winds. It uses a wing keel system and automatic inflation to allow paratroopers to steer to distant drop zones for stealth. A second phase tests landings and safety underway at Fort Eustis with TARCO and Ryan as contractors.
