The Community Fair and Clare Public School Exposition promise a history-making event with early entries in Agricultural and Home Economics. Contests, a 8:00 pm address by Prof. B. A. Walpole, performances by the Clare High School band and Glee Club, and a free prize drawing are planned. Doors open 12:30 pm to 11:30 pm with prizes donated by local businesses.

The deer season opens today with a one buck deer and black bear limit. Through Clare hardware and Harris & Hirt, 275 licenses issued by Thursday afternoon, including five to women. The list is led by C. H. Rockwell, 88, and others aged 82 and 79.

Rex E DeVogt fifty a former Clare resident and maker of illuminated highway signs at Alma died after his car struck the rear of a moving truck on U S 27 south of Ithaca. He was taken to Smith Memorial hospital but died en route. Survived by widow a former wife and his aged mother a California daughter mentioned.

Vernon Farmer Seriously Injured In Barn Accident
Dewey Wood of Vernon fell twenty feet from a hay mow while attending to chores in his barn on Tuesday evening. His twelve year old son Billie heard the crash and summoned help. Dr Slattery of nearby Ilessey attended and reported serious bruising with potential internal injuries.

Pioneer of Clare Dies At Noon On Sunday
Archibald J. McKinnon born 1856 in Georgetown Ontario died Sunday November 10 1935. He settled Vernon Township in 1879 and married Rebecca Garson of Ireland. Survived by children Ethel Hstélle Roy and three other relatives. Funeral at home with interment at Cherry Grove beside his wife. Rev Dawe officiated.

Auto Jumps Curb Crashes Clare Drug Co Window
Miss Juno Hinkle’s car mounted the curb on McEwan Street Saturday night and slammed into the Clare Drug Co front. The vehicle shattered the storm front, entered the doorway, and tore the glass casing of the ice cream plant’s display. No pedestrians were injured and the driver escaped unhurt despite being covered in glass.

Peter Malosh Found Dead Near Lake Home
Peter Malosh died unexpectedly on November 5 while working on his Garfield township farm one mile east of Lake. He was born July 2, 1866 in Fulton County Ohio and married Amanda Ant Bieler September 4, 1892 at Wauseon Ohio. They moved to Michigan in 1902 and had one son Clifford. Mrs Malosh died May 17 previously. Last rites were held at Gleaner Hall Lake at 1:30 Friday with interment in Garfield cemetery. Rev. Albert Dave of Clare officiated.

State plans surface 4.3 miles on M-61 with oil
State Highway Commissioner Murray D. VanWagoner and WPA planning chief Lewis Nims announced a project to surface about 4.3 miles of M-61 west of Harrison with oil aggregate. The $80,000 plan will employ about 60 men for seven to eight months, with state supervision and WPA handling all destruction details. Oil aggregate offers a dust proof, hard surface at about a quarter of concrete cost.
