Plans to Develop Duck Marsh Near Leota and Cedar River
About twenty five members of the Clare Rod and Gun club and Harrison Hunting and Fishing club met at Barnes Cafe after tours of the old fox farm near Leota and Cedar river streams. They discussed turning the old fox farm into a duck marsh with dammed waters, deer refuge, and fox and raccoon chases, under Department of Conservation oversight. Dr. H D Rule urged public access, a caretaker, water level control to limit muskrats, and regulations compatible with other projects, with a June Monroe department meeting to seek approval. Weather permitting the Clare club will plant corn at the sanctuary north of Clare this Friday evening.
