President Honors Father of Vietnam Hero with Medal of Honor
President Lyndon Johnson awarded the Medal of Honor to PFC Milton L Olive a paratrooper of the 178d Airborne Brigade who died saving four allies in Vietnam on October 22. The ceremony at the White House included Olive's father Milton B Olive Jr and two rescuers, Lt. Jimmy Stanford and Sp. John Foster. Olive was born in Chicago in 1946 and enlisted in 1964. His awards include the Purple Heart, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and Combat Infantryman, Parachutist, and Marksman Badges.
