Clare Schools Seek Three Mills for Operation
The Clare Board of Education unanimously requests three additional mills for operation at the June 13 annual election. The millage funds instruction, transportation, and maintenance as the district emphasizes the basics the 3 R's with staffing across the Primary Middle and High Schools. The plan supports curriculum coordination and continued basic instructional emphasis across K through 12.

Trio of Rita Brown Hurt in Clare Sawmill Accident
Three year old Rita Brown remained in serious condition at Midland Hospital after clothing became entangled with a drive shaft at the Bennett sawmill south of Clare. A fund drive to cover hospital costs has been started with a trust at Clare Citizens Bank and Trust Co. Donations may be sent to the bank.

Seniors Meal Program Opens in Clare County Churches
The City of Clare invites seniors 60 and older or spouses to a drop in meal program at Congregational United Church of Christ 110 W 5th St Clare. Hot meals served weekdays at noon with 50 cent suggested donation. no one turned away. Plans for post dinner activities and volunteer transport support announced with a new phone number to be published soon. Additional federal funds enable a third Clare County site joining St Athanasius Harrison and Farwell United Methodist Church 281 Ohio St.
