Courtney Bauer, who has run the Clare Airport for 26 years, requests a formal annual salary of 1000 from the city for his management. Previously he has used the airport and buildings in exchange for his oversight, while ownership of the structures remains with Bauer.
The state offers a free pleasure boating course for youths ages two to fifteen in Clare with instructor James Rosekrans. The course aims to certify budding motorboaters by age seven and allows all ages to enroll. Enrollment is at Clare High School or by calling the Clare County Sheriff at 539 7166.
The Clare City Commission delayed a modular housing permit for William McConica pending full health department drainage reports and engineer certification. A public hearing was set, and council also approved ten other building permits and a spring fast-track for minor alterations by city manager.
Nine candidates have filed petitions for three vacancies on the Mid Michigan Community College Board of Trustees. Four seek the two six year terms, while five pursue the two year term. The election occurs during the regular school election on June 12.
Farwell Area Schools announce Susan Marie Paesens as valedictorian and Eric Van Buskirk as salutatorian for 1972. Paesens, daughter of Kerwin and the late, excels with straight A’s and leadership in cheer, GAA, bands, Thespians, and NHS, planning to study physical education at Central Michigan University. Van Buskirk, son of Leonard and, holds a 3.95 GPA, active in Drama, Forensics, Thespians, and French Club, intends to major in mathematics at Saginaw Valley College. Also recognized are other senior honor students listed.
