Winter Deer Kill Increase Blame On Marauding Dogs
Clare Conservation officer Don Bell responded Monday to a deer attacked by a large white German Shepherd type dog near Lake Thirteen. The deer, badly mauled and near death, had to be destroyed. Bell cites deep snows and dogs roaming at large as driving a record season of deer losses, urging owners to tie or confine pets and urging enforcement against violators.

Farwell FFA members cut cedar for deer work north of Farwell
Eleven members of the Farwell FFA and their advisor held a picnic in the woods last Saturday and cut cedar for the deer. A Conservation Department representative marked the area eight miles northwest of Farwell on M 115 past Doc and Tom Creek. The cuttings will be checked and may require another day or two of planning. The group found one dead deer in the area.

High Priced Meter Key Plunder Hits Clare Streets
Police report a missing master key for Clare parking meters has allowed a thief to steal coins from dozens of meters since mid February. Eight more meters were found emptied this week, with an estimated total loss around 60 dollars. An early morning windfall was also found on West Fourth Street when the thief opened meters during the night.
