Senator to Speak on Swamp Tax in Grayling Meeting
State Sen. Robert Davis plans to address the Michigan Northern Counties Association at its March 22 Grayling gathering. MNCA opposes raising the Swamp Tax from 20 to 40 cents per acre, urging abolition and inclusion of state lands on ad valorem rolls. Johnson notes potential increased local funding if lands are taxed and cites Rep. Philip Ruppe’s H.R. 1678 to pay taxes in lieu of taxes on federal lands.
