The Department of Conservation urged anglers to buy fishing licenses as bass bluegill sunfish and other species opened Tuesday. The season allows several species across 5000 lakes with creel limits and state licenses detailing resident and non resident fees and exemptions.
Neighbors held a farewell gathering for Mrs R I Hether at Mrs John Asline’s home last Friday evening. Guests played Keno socialized and shared a pot luck supper. The Hether family plans a summer home at Budd Lake Harrison and Miss Helen Hether will assume County Commissioner of Schools duties July 1.

The Civilian Conservation Corps in cooperation with the University of Michigan Institute for Fisheries Research conducts a creel census at Budd Lake from June 25 to October 30, 1935. H A Dawson, superintendent, says the study records fish size species and numbers and fishing conditions for scientific purposes. Camp Houghton Lake No. 684 crews stations around the lake. at census end a detailed report will be released. Fishermen are urged to cooperate.
Michigan crude production rose by 525 barrels daily from the prior week to a 43 444 barrel weekly average ending June 22 marking an all time daily average. Montcalm county led with a 670 barrel rise Beaverton up 55 and Ogeman up 67 while Porter Chippewa Greendale Vernon Seaton and others posted declines.
The Michigan Bible conference launches its first annual event at Five Lakes near Clare from July 4 to 7. A gospel tent hosts daily services at 10 am 2 pm 3 30 pm and 7 30 pm with speakers from Detroit Flint and Grand Rapids and music from local churches. Free admission invites families for a four day inspirational and recreational program.

Beulah Arlene Brooks and Paul Karl Heberlein wed at Rosebush Presbyterian Church in a historic ceremony. Officiated by Rev. Stephen A. Crowell, the couple celebrated with showers and visits in Detroit and Pontiac, planning to reside in Crosby North Dakota where the groom will serve a Presbyterian church.
Miss Mildred Jourdain daughter of Mr and Mrs Eugene Jourdain and Mr Gerald McFarlane son of Mr and Mrs John McFarlane were married at St Cecilia's Catholic Church by Rev Fr Stanley Morrison. The bride wore dusty blue sheer crepe with a pink rose bouquet. After a wedding breakfast at the bride’s home the couple left for Dearborn Michigan to begin their life together.
Maurice R. Keyworth state superintendent-elect of Public Instruction died from injuries sustained in an auto accident near Sault Ste. Marie last Saturday. He was buried at Gaylord after funeral services in Hamtramck. Rev. B W Pullinger officiated and former Governor Wilber Brucker delivered the oration praising his lifelong dedication to education.
