Michigan hunters optimistic for bigger 1963 deer crop
State Conservation Department projects a larger deer herd this fall, aided by higher fawn production in spring, improved fawn survival, and lighter winter losses. Southern Michigan leads growth with about 14 percent yearly increase, potentially adding around 20 000 deer from last November. Fawn survival expected above average, especially in the upper peninsula, and does in good condition after winter.
