Fire at White's Greenhouse and Nursery caused extensive losses to boiler room controls and a large portion of the new greenhouse structure. More than a thousand glass panes broke, floral stock destroyed, and fruit trees damaged. Rebuilding started immediately as insurance coverage was limited for fire.

Manly Reynolds born November 10, 1872, son of Henry and Lois Ann Reynolds, died June 12, 1948, at his sister’s home in Ithaca, Michigan. He had been in declining health, death sudden from heart failure. Survived by two sisters Mrs. N C Lackie and Mrs. B M Hail, a sister-in-law Nellie Reynolds, and many nieces and nephews. Fireworks enforcement report cites state law and local arrests
