Starting Monday June 21 a playground program for Clare children runs 9 30 am to 4 30 pm Monday through Friday for ten weeks. Esteemed Clare Citizen Jacob Mason Dies at 91
Jacob Mason, one of Clare's last Civil War veterans, died Monday morning at his home on South McEwan Street aged 91 years, 9 months, and 4 days. A prominent local pioneer, he served as mayor and alderman, married Martha Haton, and retired five years ago. Survived by two sons, a granddaughter, and a great grandson, his funeral was Thursday at Thurston Funeral Home with Masonic and American Legion rites.

Four Hurt in Week Start Auto Wrecks
Four people sustained cuts and bruises in separate traffic incidents this week. Joe M. Jones of Beaverton and Wm. Wasson near Him Grove were injured in a collision one mile north of Cottonville just after noon. The Wasson car was taken to repairs by the Ford service truck. Two Lansing women Frances Harding and Doris Mutter were treated at Clare County General Hospital after their car went out of control on US-27 nine miles north of Clare and went into a ditch. They left the hospital around midnight for home.

The Clare Woman golfers entertained the Grayling ladies at Twin Elms Club house and golf course. Play began at 9 30 with eighteen holes and a lunch between rounds.
