Graduation week rites seal 26 seniors' high school year

The close of school begins with the baccalaureate sermon by Rev. H B Johnson and music by Hiden, in the high school auditorium. Commencement for 26 seniors set for June 18 at 8 PM with diplomas for many but some contingent on completing work. Class roll lists 26 names and a lengthy program of speeches, music, and presentations. An art exhibit and a school picnic plan cap the ending events with exams and report cards to follow.

Obituary of Christopher J Hoover Born 1841 Died 1924

Christopher J Hoover of Greenwood born July 5 1841 in Holdman county Ont died June 5 1924 at his daughter’s Greenwood home aged 82 years 11 months married Hester Tibbits October 14 1867 she preceded him nine years. He left eight sons and a daughter with fifteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Funeral at Frank Saul home Greenwood township conducted by Rev Chas Kleinhardt and burial Maple Grove Harrison Michigan.

Frank Wahl Dies After Short Illness in Clare

Frank Wahl, respected Clare citizen, died at his home on east 4th street Sunday June 8 after a brief illness. Born January 10 1871 in Higge county Ohio he moved to Parding County as a child. He married Cora Leeth April 1 1898 and moved to Michigan in 1907. Survived by his wife eight of nine children Blanche Fred Garrett Edward Myrtle Homer Lila Dale all of Clare ten grandchildren and his aged father with brothers Edward and Jake in Payne Ohio. Funeral held at home Wednesday with Rev G A Lohnes officiating and burial in Cherry Grove.

Farmers' Fire Truck Responds to Two Calls

Last Saturday the Farmers' Fire Truck answered a late call to Mike Himes farm and reached in thirteen minutes despite a detour. A barn burned while neighbors formed a bucket brigade to save other property. On Wednesday it was dispatched again to the James S. Bicknell farm near the county line, where a quick response extinguished a fast-growing fire. The department discussed per call charges at Monday’s meeting, estimating about 16 dollars for an average fire, higher if substantial chemical use occurred.

Former Clare Boy Claimed By Scarlet Fever

The remains of Raymond Dawson age 21 son of Mr and Mrs David Dawson of Saginaw will be brought to Clare Saturday for interment in Cherry Grove. He spent his school days here moved to Saginaw seven years ago where he was a victim of scarlet fever on Wednesday June 11. He is survived by his mother three brothers and two sisters.
