The community enjoyed a warm Sunday at Rural Arthur Center with good attendance and several visiting guests from Holt Port Huron Lansing and Bay City including the Millers Marotzke Myers Albertson and Town families among others. Local residents hosted numerous visitors over the weekend and at Monday gatherings.
Mr and Mrs Max Allen and son, Mr and Mrs Harry Hawkins and daughter Mable Ann visited Mr and Mrs George Winn and family Sunday. Mrs Harold Shaver, Mrs Leo Wallace and Mrs Wm Clark were Sunday guests of Mrs Al Shaver. Our Missionary Society packed boxes for India and Czechoslovakia at the last meeting.
Pleasant Valley residents hosted and visited relatives over the weekend including Lou Leeth in Grand Rapids, Henry Kleiner’s visitors from Chelsea, and the Randal home. Sympathy extended to the Strouse family after a death. Several trips to visit in Beaverton Pontiac Toledo Saginaw Antwerp and Williamston noted along with hospital stays and recoveries.
Detroit visitors including Mr and Mrs Forest Rolland and Mr and Mrs Lewis Wason spent the weekend with local families in Elm Grove. Other guests included Mr and Mrs Frank Hill, John Kaul Jr, and Mrs Lucille Hess. Local residents hosted dinners and Sunday gatherings with relatives from Arthur Flint Beaverton Lansing Grand Rapids and Fort Wayne.
Elm Grove ladies sponsored a Friday chicken supper at the Grange hall and cleared over $100. A crowd attended and several locals visited relatives in Detroit and Royal Oak. Elizabeth McClung returned from Detroit to celebrate an 84th birthday with a card shower.
John Hoskey returns from Samaritan Hospital in Bay City and is recovering. Neighbors visit hospital and share in family events. Residents attend rodeo in Harrison, host visits from Detroit and Bay City relatives, and census taker Ed Moder surveys the neighborhood.
Brush College residents share visits and weekend trips as Heyman Wisner and family traveled from Angola to J C Coats home. Newman guests dined with Mrs Arthur Perry at Bard. Mrs Tone Gdrr spent time with Mrs Rudsell Sanders. Rose DeWalt visited Randolph and Kenneth Rockey relatives. Cyril Farmer and son Bobbie from Lansing stayed on farm. Gruno family visited J C Coats. J C Newman hosted. Harold Rockey returned from Wesleyan College for summer vacation.
Mr and Mrs Ted Benic visited Thursday evening with Mr and Mrs Russell Sanders and Mr and Mrs Bob Bleise of Beal City. Miss Ida Leitner of Pontiac spent the holiday weekend with relatives here. A Sunday picnic at Clare tourist park brought together Harl Sanders the Sanders and Coats families Newman and Leitner and Widow Marion Medrow from Lansing. Evening callers at the Newman home included Mr and Mrs Glenn Poet and Mr and Mrs Bernard Allen and family.
Probate Court of Clare County orders public notice for the final account of Edith A Hudson estate. Fred W Hudson as Administrator to be examined and allowed on June 27 1949 at 10 o clock in the forenoon at the Harrison Probate Office. Notice to be published weekly in Clare Sentinel for three weeks.
