Clare to Lease Mill Pond From Power Co Says Senator
Senator Ben Carpenter told The Sentinel that Clare could lease the mill pond property from Consumers Power Co for $1 per year with flood rights. City would assume damage risk below the dam if a flood occurs, and a qualified inspector would assess safety at no city cost. Carpenter also said he would guarantee enough large fish to stock the pond, which was drained on July 6, 1981, but could be a popular fishing spot again with minimal expense.
