Merle Davis of Clare was arrested for disorderly conduct after an incident at Chuck's Tavern on July 8. He allegedly threw a beer at Mrs. heat Hart after she refused service at his table. Four Clare Boys to Attend Camp at Higgins Lake
At a Clare Rod and Gun Club meeting four boys Jimmy Irwin Earl Bellows Bob Larman and Bob Beck were chosen to attend the Michigan Boys Conservation Camp at Higgins Lake for a week starting August 19 with four alternates named. Michigan Bangs disease plan would ease movement in accredited areas
A 15 month study by Michigan Bangs Disease Study Committee approves amendments to the Bonine law to strengthen cattle disease control. The plan lets movement of cattle within or out of accredited areas and permits selling from accredited herds without tests. It backs calfhood vaccination, six month tests for accredited herds, and introduces a "certified vaccinated herds" class with county funded testing and vaccination. Local vets would assist under state supervision.

Two Killed in Car Crash Near Temple Sunday
Thomas Walker age 62 and Laura Walker age 60 of Coleman died in a two car crash two miles north of Temple on M 61. Archie Davis 36 of Temple drove north into the Walker car and Richard Monroe 62 of Coleman drove west. Mrs Mable Monroe 60 suffered eight broken ribs and other injuries. The Monroes and Archie Davis were treated at Clare Hospital. Funeral services for the Walkers were held at the Coleman Evangelical Church with burial at Coleman cemetery. Floyd Soper suffered second degree burns from gasoline igniting on a tractor near Clare. He received treatment at Mt Pleasant hospital and was reported in good condition.

Funeral services were held Tuesday for Mrs Ida Jane Springer Paxton 86 who died Saturday at her daughter Mary Ross home. Born December 5 1859 in Hocking County Ohio she moved to Beaverton from Grover Hill 44 years ago. Burial was in Dale cemetery with Rev Henry Kreulen of Bay City officiating.

Child Safe After Farm Fire Near Vernon Township
Firefighters from Clare Fire Department were called to Harold Anderson’s Vernon township farm two and a half miles east of St. Henry’s Church after a straw stack near the barn basin caught fire. They saved the barn and nearby buildings by redirecting flames and dousing with water. A five year old child was missing during the blaze but was found safe in a nearby orchard, unaware of the danger.
