State last week awarded road contracts across Clare, Osceola, and Bay counties for US 10 and US 23 paving. Clare county will get 48 miles of concrete work totaling about 199 504 dollars. Osceola joins with 8.16 miles costing 173 018 dollars. Bay County receives 4.2 miles of paving with multiple widths and 182 478 dollars. An underpass at the Ann Arbor railroad crossing on High street in Mt. Pleasant is projected at 93 900 dollars, rerouting M-20 to ease city traffic.

Pierson Family Returns to View Former Home
The Pierson family, once residents of Arthur township, drove from Flint to inspect the old homestead. Native of Rochester New York, Mr. Pierson studied two years at college before moving west to Clare county. He bought 40 acres by the railroad, built a house and barn, and later died of pneumonia in 1897. the family then moved to Flint. The Sentinel has long visited them and they keep ties with the community.

William Lange Jr arrived Saturday night for a visit with his parents Mr and Mrs William Lange and relatives. He has served with the 2nd Regiment of Engineers at Fort Logan Colorado for a year performing close order drill engager drill duties two maneuvers building roads and footbridges on the National Pike roads. He is enthusiastic about the western climate and country and awaits orders to report for possible duty at Sports Wise or COG. It is not known whether he will be stationed there permanently.

Three Detroit Men Escape Serious Injury In US 10 Curve Crash
Three Detroit men were badly hurt early Saturday when their car failed to negotiate the east city limits S curve on US 10. Pilbert Gunther suffered skull and chest injuries, Led Grécala had skull fractures and head lacerations, Edmund Blaszak had minor cuts. All were taken to Clare County General Hospital for treatment.
