Clare City approves snowmobile trails and landfill deal
In a special session the Clare City Commission voted unanimously to adopt a state snowmobile law and establish trial trails from the city, excluding Deer Lake Rd. The plan covers Lake Shamrock, the city park, and Brookwood St with curfews from state rules. The panel also approved a $10,000 one year contract with Bauer Sanitary Landfill for rubbish disposal beginning Feb 1 and allowed repairs to a commercial building at 613 McEwan St pending foundation work.

The Garfield Memorial Library in Clare houses more than 15 000 books along with magazines records and films. Located at Fourth and McEwan Streets it is funded by voted millage and donations from Sam Garfield and others. Open weekdays and Saturday it serves about 6 000 people with 1 125 card holders and offers access to magazines newspapers and language Morse code records and films for in house use.

The Clare County Board of Commissioners approves a final re districting plan to align districts with population changes from the 1970 census. Districts include Hatton to Frost Townships in district one and Harrison in district five, with populations listed for districts two through five.
